About Angie:
Angie Smith, Principle Broker for RE/MAX on the Bay, and a native of Van Buren County, was born in a little breath of an Arkansas town called Arlburg, population, twenty-five. No doubt, Angie ran and played along the Little Red River that runs between cliffs and trees of what is considered the Foothills of the Ozarks. Angie’s roots run deep in these beautiful hills and life-style of this pristine, quiet and majestic area.
Then life moved Angie to the ‘big city’ of Shirley, Arkansas, population, 97, and as the locals say, “just a stone’s throw from Arlburg.” Though Angie moved to bigger cities, studying Business at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan and Marketing at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, she never really pulled up her roots from the Van Buren County area. Angie maintained a Real Estate License in Michigan for fifteen years, as well as being a Personnel Supervisor with a large Retail chain with 125 to 150 employees. Angie earned her Real Estate License in 1973. When Angie decided it was time to return home to Van Buren County, she settled in the Clinton, Fairfield Bay and Greers Ferry Lake Area where she plans to stay.
You will never find Angie sitting on the porch twiddling her thumbs. This busy lady is an avid antiques collector, loves dancing and traveling, is a member of both Clinton and Fairfield Bay Chambers, writes a weekly column in a local newspaper called “The Real Estate Corner,” belongs to Eta Beta Sorority, Red Hat Society and Fairfield Bay Line Dancers, and makes a lot of people happy by finding them just the right place to call home. But Angie’s true passion is her role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her Native American heritage. Angie can trace her Native American bloodline to Middle, Tennessee in the year 1851 by the Indian name Cupp. James Cupp married Anna Roberson and they traveled to the Clarksville area on the Trail of Tears where they settled and raised a family. Angie’s grandmother Pearl, a descendant of the Cupp family was born in the Settlement, a few miles from Clinton in a cabin that is still there today.
It only took Angie one year, her first year, to receive a Bronze Level Award of Excellence from the Arkansas Realtors Association, and she received a Silver Level Award of Excellence in her second year.
