Greers Ferry Lake was established in 1963 and the Greers Ferry Dam structure was dedicated by the late President John F. Kennedy.
The lake has almost 40,000 acres of lake surface to accommodate boaters, fishermen and recreation activities.  Fishing at the lake is good throughout most of the year and includes bass, crappie, trout and catfish. Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has stocked every game fish native to the State of Arkansas into the lake. The lake is known to produce some of the largest walleye in the world.
The Little Red River flows out of the dam and is known to produce world record trout fishing.

The lake provides great swimming, fishing, scuba diving and many more great lake activities! In addition the area abounds with wildlife including Eagles, Deer, Turkeys, Quail and a variety of bird species.
Greers Ferry is ranked seventh in tourist location points in Arkansas.
